Shirley was born on June 11, 1938, in Cedar Gap to Roy and Ruby Glaze Lambert. She attended school at South Taylor County and was a proud cheerleader for the South Taylor County Tigers. Shirley liked to dance and spend time with her family, she loved to crochet and made many Afghans for the West Texas Rehab center annual telethon. She was active in sports and not only watched softball and volleyball but played in several adult leagues.
It was football that she was her real enjoyment each fall. Watching, and being a true Texan at heart, it was Dallas Cowboy football that was her passion. She never missed a game and was often the best assistance coach Jerry Jones or the Dallas Cowboys ever had. Her living room coaching style was famously known about in her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Freeman of Cedar Gap, Patricia and Darrell Earnest of Lawn, Lisa Spinks and Patricia Arredondo of Cedar Gap; son Dallas Smith of Queen City: two sisters, Ruby Claudette Nevels and Sandy Jackson both of Cedar Gap; and a brother Joe Lambert of Cedar Gap.
