Jerry Carlton Wright

(May 5, 1942 ~ September 19, 1952)

Jerry, son of Adolphus Clyde Wright and Addie Margaret 'Margie' Montgomery and buried in Dewey Cemetery, Lawn, Taylor County, Texas.  Jerry attended Lawn Elementary School with the Jim Ned graduating class of  1960.


 

Young Lawn Bulbar Polio Victim Dies

TUSCOLA, Sept. 19. (RNS) - Jerry Carolton Wright, 10, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday at Hendrick Memorial Hospital of bulbar polio.

He had been ill since Sunday.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Lawn Baptist Church.  The Rev. A. H. Williams, pastor, will officiate.  He will be assisted by the Rev. Travis McNair, Methodist pastor.

Burial will be in Dewey Cemetery, south of Lawn.

Fry Funeral Home of Tuscola is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born May 5, 1942, at Midland.  He had been making his home with his grandmother, Mrs. Constance Montgomery of Lawn.

His mother, Mrs. Addie Montgomery Wright, died at his birth.

His father, Clyde Wright, is of Carlsbad, N.M.

Jerry was a fifth grader in Lawn school.

Survivors include his father and grandmother; a grandfather, A. Wright of Albany; a grandmother, Mrs. Coy Britton of Carlsbad; three aunts, Mrs. N. A. Griffin of Dallas, Mrs. Richard Garretson of Fort Worth, and Mrs. H. B. Slaughter of Abilene; and two uncles, Coy Montgomery of Andrews, and Roy Montgomery of Lawn.

Pallbearers will be D. F. Brians of Abilene, Pat Patterson, O. H. Parsons, Gene Waggoner, and Luther Cannon, all of Lawn, and Melvin Haynes of Abilene.
