Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Burl Ray Peterson joined his Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Burl was born November 2, 1931 in Trent, Texas to Lester and Valvee Peterson.  He married the love of his life Beverly Sue Storey Jan. 6, 1952 in Abilene Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1961.

Burl moved to Amarillo in 1962 as a Civil Engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. He owned and operated Dyess Testing Laboratory from 1968 till 1993 when he retired.

He was an active member of the San Jacinto Lions club for 60 years and served on the Eye bank, food collection for Thanksgiving dinners, eyeglass program and many other community projects.  He loved farming, hunting and ranching. He attended First Christian Church.

Burl is survived by his wife Beverly, brother Delbert “Bud” Peterson of Lubbock, daughters Brenda Peterson of Acworth, GA, Belinda and husband Charlie Rivas, Jr., Cindy Peterson of Amarillo, Rae Ann and husband Don Skaggs of Buda, TX and son Lee and wife Dalana Peterson of Amarillo.  10 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
