Mada B. Cochran Johnson Fate, daughter of William Henry Enoch 'Buck' Cochran and Beulah Elizabeth Johnson, married 1st William Elton Johnson, married 2nd Richard Worden Fate and buried in Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.


RIVER OAKS - Mada C. Fate, 99, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Graveside: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Greenwood Memorial Park, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth.

Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Texas, San Saba County, city of Locker to William H. (Buck) Cochran and Beulah Johnson. She was the youngest of four siblings, brother, J.D. Cochran, sister, Melba Cochran McKee and husband, J.C McKee, and sister, Myrl Cochran Myers and husband, Vernon Myers.

Mada was a true Texan - born, raised, lived and worked in Texas. She was high school Valedictorian in central Texas. Soon after school she married William E. Johnson on May 18, 1941, following him to the United States Air Corps Flight training and Flight school, in California, then moved back to Abilene, Texas when William was killed in Italy, WW II (Aug. 3, 1944).

She worked a number of jobs after moving to Fort Worth. One of which was Aircraft Sales Company where she married her second husband, Richard W. Fate, on Aug 16, 1947.

She bore three successful children, Jerry Johnson, Janet Fate (Owen), and Richard Fate; grandchildren, Robin, Russell, Leigh, Holly and Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Austin, Bailey, Hunter, Tanner, Hayden and Lacie; and great-great-grandchild, Maverick.

She was a dedicated Christian, making sure her children and grandchildren had the opportunity to attend church services each week. She was a long-time member of River Oaks Baptist Church.

She loved the outdoors, plants and pets. She worked constantly in her beautiful backyard garden. Always digging, planting, clipping, pruning and re-arranging plants. She loved her backyard quiet place.
She was beloved by family, friends and neighbors.
