Louise, daughter of William Howell Anders and Tommie Estelle Espy, married to William Stanley Chambers, Sr. and buried in Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, Haskell County, Texas.


Janie Louise Anders Chambers passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 83. She was born October 15, 1926 in Northport, Alabama. She was the second child of William Howell Anders and Tommie Estele Espy Anders. Louise came to Texas from Alabama in 1929 in a Model T Ford with her brother Norris and parents who were farmers. They settled in Ovalo, Texas and later moved to Tuscola, Texas. She finished high school in Ackerly, Texas. Louise enrolled in Texas State College for Women (later Texas Woman's University). She was the first in her family to graduate from college earning as Bachelor of Science degree at the age of twenty.

She was taking advanced courses at Colorado State University where she met her future husband, William Stanley Chambers, at a dance. Being a good Baptist, she refused to dance with him. He persisted in asking her for a date and they were married in 1949 in Denton, Texas. They moved to Florence, Texas where Bill was the Ag teacher and Louise was the home economics teacher. In 1951 they moved to Mission, Texas where their daughter Martha Nell was born. They moved to Rochester, Texas in 1955 where their son William Stanley Jr. was born.

She taught home economics in Florence, Weinert and then in Rochester, Texas after her husband Bill died in 1965. She received her Master of Science in Home Economics from Texas Tech University in 1970. Louise was named Texas Home Economics Teacher of the Year in 1976. She later received her administrative certificate from Texas A&M University and became the principal at Rochester High School. Louise retired from teaching after 37 years and moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1997 and to Georgetown, Texas in 2008.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Stanley Chambers, her parents William Howell and Tommie Estele Espy Anders and her brothers Tommy Norris Anders and William Howell Anders Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Nell Hodgin of Tilden, Texas; her daughter, Martha Nell Evans and husband Bob of San Antonio, Texas; and a son, William Stanley Chambers Jr. and wife Michele of Georgetown, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louise truly loved the Lord and was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren and all those she came in contact with. Her strength of character, faith in God and compassion will be missed. She fought the good fight, finished the course and kept the faith.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas followed by burial in the Rochester Cemetery at 5:00 P.M. Pallbearers are Wade Hodgin, Bobby Anders, Steve Anders, Mark Herod, Darren Hromas and Philip Gable. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the TV Ministry, First Baptist Church of San Antonio, 515 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78215.
