Mary Louise Bigham Gowdy (Bradshaw Coyotes) - Class Of 1946

Mary Louise Bigham Gowdy

(December 24, 1926 ~ August 14, 2019)

Mary Louise Bigham Gowdy, 92, of Brownwood passed away Wednesday evening at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 18, at the David-Morris Chapel with Ron Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Bluff Creek Cemetery near Bradshaw, Texas.

Mary was born at home in Tye, Texas on December 24, 1926 and grew up in the Tye, Merkel and Bradshaw areas.

She married Earnest Eugene Gowdy on October 18, 1952 in Abilene.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and childcare giver in the Seminole, Texas area for over 20 years and also lived in Wheeler, Snyder, Bronte and San Angelo.

Mary always placed God and family first beyond her own needs. Though she suffered from poor eyesight for most of her life, she dedicated her life to serving God and family and to caring for young children both in her home and in the nursery and Sunday School at church. She was gentle, kind, and loved listening to and sharing nature’s sounds. Disability was not an obstacle to her success but an inspiration to all of the lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband and closest friend, Earnest; her parents Ted and Effie Rister Bigham; sisters Ruby Sneed and Katie Bigham; and brothers Edward Bigham and Ted L. Bigham.
